FERRIS S. RITCHEY, III
Ferris Ritchey emphasizes his practice in the areas of family law, mediation, estate planning and probate law. Ferris is admitted to practice in Alabama in both State and Federal Court and is a member of the State of Alabama and Birmingham Bar Associations. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Alabama in 1981 and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in 1984.
Ferris has been an active member in the legal community where he is a Charter Fellow of the Birmingham Bar Foundation having served as its President in 2008. In addition, Ferris has served as President, Birmingham Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, Chair, Homewood Chamber of Commerce, Executive Committee – Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar, Executive Committee – Birmingham Bar Association and Treasurer – Birmingham Bar Foundation. He is the immediate past Chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Birmingham Bar Association. Ferris completed Leadership Shelby County in 2011.
Ferris was a partner with the firm of Dempsey, Steed, Stewart, Ritchey & Gaché, LLP, from 2005 until 2018 before returning to the family firm of Ritchey & Ritchey where he began practicing in 1984. Ferris is from Birmingham, Alabama, married to Pam Ritchey and they have three children and five grandchildren.
